Overview
HRSD is undertaking a major project to replace and relocate approximately 7,500 linear feet of the North Trunk Sewer Section D Force Main and install 2,300 linear feet of new 6-inch diameter force main located in the Riverview and Colonial Place areas of Norfolk. The project is needed to replace a pipeline built in the 1940's that has reached the end of its useful life and install a new 6-inch diameter force main to serve an HRSD pumping station located on Granby Street north of 42nd Street. The project will also minimize the risk of sewer failures in these neighborhoods.

Most Recent Update
May 3, 2012 – The project is approximately 90 percent complete. Pipe work in the 38th Street corridor is scheduled for completion by the second week in May, after which paving and site restoration will commence.  Final pipe connections near Killam Avenue will take place by the end of May. The entire project is scheduled for completion by early July, approximately five months ahead of schedule.

Roads Affected
The following roads will be directly impacted at some point throughout construction: 41st Street, Killam Avenue, 40th Street, Georgia Avenue, 38th Street, Granby Street, La Valette Avenue, 42nd Street and Columbus Avenue. The use of rolling work zones will typically limit construction to one block at a time, and comprehensive traffic control plans will be implemented to minimize inconvenience.
