ODU Area Pipeline Relocation and Rehabilitation Project PROJECT NEWS: December, 2007 - The contractor is currently disassembling and removing the bypass pipeline installed in August. HRSD has nearly completed a project to rehabilitate and relocate portions of the 16-inch force main that conveys wastewater to HRSD's Virginia Initiative Plant. This project, which is taking place near the Old Dominion University (ODU) Campus, is formally named the North Trunk Sewer Section W, South Trunk Sewer Section R, and North Trunk Sewer Section O Force Main Replacements. The first stage of the project involved the installation of a new pipe along Buckingham Avenue and Monroe Place. Phase Two required the installation of a temporary 12-inch bypass pipeline along Elkhorn Avenue between 43rd Street and 49th Street, and along 49th Street between Elkhorn Avenue and Bluestone Avenue. Removal of the temporary pipeline will be completed before January 1, 2008. Restoration of landscaping, replacement of concrete, and other wrap-up activities for this final phase of the project will be accomplished in January.
