PROJECT NEWS: June 16, 2008 - Contract C (Plant Construction), which was awarded to Pizzagalli Construction Company on March 27, 2007, is 45 percent complete and is on schedule. Facilities under construction include: Preliminary Treatment Facility, Primary Clarifiers, Aeration Tanks, Blower and Electrical Building, Secondary Clarifiers, Return Activated Solids Pump Station, Chlorine Contact Tanks, Odor Control Stations C and D, Acid Phase Digester and Control Building, Dewatering Building, and Plant Drain Pump Station. The newly constructed biosolids storage pad was completed in February and is in use.

Two contracts have been completed. Contract A (Utility Relocation) consisted of relocating a 16-inch diameter force main, a 36-inch diameter return activated solids force main, and miscellaneous buried pipelines and utilities. Contract B (Site Preparation) consisted of clearing and excavating surcharge areas, furnishing and installing structural fill and surcharge fill material, and installing temporary drainage and a permanent storm water management facility.

HRSD is undertaking a major project to expand and improve our Atlantic Treatment Plant in Virginia Beach. We've created this web site to provide current information about the project and its benefits. We will update and expand the content as the project progresses.
