Overview
HRSD is undertaking a major project to replace and relocate three miles of the South Trunk Force Main Sections B & C located in the Young Terrace, Ghent and West Ghent areas of Norfolk. The project is needed to replace a pipeline that was built in the 1940's which has reached the end of its useful life. It will also minimize the risk of sewer failures in these neighborhoods. May 8, 2012 - Traffic Alert
- Starting Wednesday morning (5/9/12) - Colley Avenue southbound will be reduced to one lane, between Olney Road and Fairfax Avenue. Northbound lanes will remain unaffected.
- Starting Thursday morning (5/10/12) - Colley Avenue southbound will be closed to through traffic between Olney Road and Fairfax Avenue. Detour: From Colley Avenue southbound, take Olney Road to Duke Street, turn right onto Duke Street, turn left onto Brambleton Avenue, arrive at Colley Avenue.
- Starting Thursday morning (5/10/12) - Fairfax Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Wagner Road to Colley Avenue. Detour: From Fairfax Avenue, turn left onto Wagner Road, turn right onto Olney Road, arrive at Colley Avenue.
Motorists should use Olney Road to enter and exit the medical center during the work in this area.
Current Project Related Construction Areas: Granby Street: 1000 Block; Westover Avenue: 500, 600, 700 and 800 Blocks; Fairfax Avenue; Llewellyn Avenue: 200 Block.

Roads Affected
The following roads will be impacted at some point throughout construction: Armistead Bridge Road, Woodrow Avenue, Brandon Avenue, Claremont Avenue, Spotswood Avenue, Matoaka Street, Westover Avenue, Manteo Street, Colley Avenue, Llewellyn Avenue, and W. Olney Road. The use of rolling work zones will typically limit construction to one block at a time, and comprehensive traffic control plans will be implemented to minimize inconvenience.
