Byrd Avenue Sewer Pipeline Update

image 1

Our contractors continued sewer pipeline replacement down Byrd Avenue this month, with excavation and installation of both pipe and manholes occurring past the southern Truitt Intermediate School bus entrance. Following this, restoration will take place between Rodgers Avenue and the entrance to Lakeside Park. The school bus access entrance on Byrd Avenue is closed, but the Rodgers Avenue entrance is open for entry. Access to the Lakeside Park parking lot for residents will be made easier entering via the Rodgers Avenue school bus entrance.

During the construction, Byrd Avenue will be closed to through traffic with no street parking. Residents will need to access their homes via side streets. If you live on Byrd Avenue between Bainbridge Boulevard and Rodgers Street, please be aware of the following:

  • Mail and package delivery service to residents will not be impacted. Contractors will work with delivery services to ensure that mail and packages reach your home.
  • Trash service will continue to be picked up in the locations where you typically place your trash.
  • Additional parking at Lakeside Park has been set up as needed for use by Byrd Avenue residents.

Construction will take place during daytime hours (7 AM – Sunset). During this operation, you may hear noises such as excavation, engines, backup alarms, diesel generators and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Rodgers Street Sewer Pipeline Update

Concrete was poured last month on Rodgers Street to restore curbs, gutters, sidewalk panels, and driveway aprons. Continuing work this month includes paving to restore the roadway surface on Rodgers Street between Holly Avenue and Byrd Avenue. Richmond Street remains closed to through traffic.

During these final phases of construction, Rodgers Street is still restricted with no through driving allowed between Park Avenue and Byrd Avenue to ensure safety around the construction area. However, although barriers will be in place, residents will be able to access their homes via the side street of Holly Avenue and various alleys.

Ferebee Avenue Pump Station Update

Our contractors began work on the construction of the Ferebee Avenue Pump Station in late April 2025. The site is currently being cleared to allow for the installation of erosion and sediment controls and placement of small equipment on-site. During material deliveries or concrete pours, southbound traffic on Bainbridge Boulevard may be reduced to one lane. The work is expected to be completed by late 2027.

Park Avenue Pump Station Update

image 2Contractors continued work in several areas at the pump station this past month. Electrical infrastructure such as conduits to control panels were placed in the pump station building. They also excavated to install the meter vault drain pipe and examine the water line connection. Demolition of an abandoned sewer pipe will allow for the connection of the pump station to HRSD’s new sewer pipe.

Continuing construction work will occur directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 6 AM. As a reminder, construction of this pump station is ongoing until summer 2025.

Bainbridge Boulevard Construction Update

Following the installation of sewer pipe on Bainbridge Boulevard near Swain Avenue, our contractors are working to install a gravity sewer pipeline and a bypass pumping system near Swain Avenue. The pipeline work is tentatively planned to be completed by late spring 2025.

As a result of the work on Bainbridge Boulevard, the northbound side of Bainbridge Boulevard will be restricted to one lane between the west entrance to Southgate Plaza near Swain Avenue and Ferebee Avenue to the south. Residents on Bainbridge Boulevard and Swain Avenue will be able to access their homes via their normal routes.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
