South Norfolk Pump Stations & Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project

--Project Update--

Bainbridge Boulevard Sewer Pipeline Update

bainbridge imageSewer pipe installation continues southward with the installation of sewer pipe on Bainbridge Boulevard at Post Avenue. Restoration work has occurred between Hughes Avenue and Wright Avenue with the rebuilding of curbs and grading to prepare for the installation of temporary asphalt.

Bainbridge Boulevard’s intersection with Chesapeake Drive has been reopened to local/thru traffic due to an adjustment in the work schedule. Notice will be provided when work in this area resumes.

Our team is working with event organizers to ensure that the Fourth of July parade route on Bainbridge Boulevard will remain clear during the festivities on that day.

The overall project pipeline construction is expected to be completed by summer 2027.

Ferebee Avenue Pump Station Update

ferebee imageConstruction continues at the Ferebee Pump Station site at 2812 Bainbridge Boulevard with the installation of process piping, roof gables, interior walls, and hand railings. Masonry placement began in mid-May. Work in the next month will include roof and truss construction and external process piping.

During material deliveries, soil/debris removal, or concrete pours at the pump station site, southbound traffic on Bainbridge Boulevard may be reduced to one lane for the safety of our contractor crews and customers.

Final pump station construction is expected to be completed by late 2027.

Park Avenue and Perry Street Sewer Pipeline Work Update

park ave imageSewer pipeline replacement work on Perry Street will resume in mid-June for the purpose of improving sewer system reliability and provide for future wastewater capacity. This work will include excavation and sewer pipe replacement in the area starting at Park Avenue and working towards the southern end of Perry Street (for further detail, refer to the map to the right).

Due to this construction, Perry Street will be closed to through traffic with no street parking. Work is expected to be completed by mid-September 2026.

During the work period, these conditions will be in place:

  • Access for residents on Perry Street shall be maintained at all times. Occasionally, driveway access may be impacted, but we will work with residents to address any concerns. Residences can be accessed from both Park Avenue and by the yellow access route depicted in the map to the right.
  • Mail and package service delivery to residents will not be impacted, and contractors will work with delivery services to ensure that mail and packages reach your home.
  • Trash service will continue to be picked up in the locations where you typically place your trash.
  • Trash service will continue to be picked up in the locations where you typically place your trash.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased traffic and noise such as drilling, engines, backup alarms, diesel generators and motors, along with the people and heavy equipment associated with construction. Please proceed with caution when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the work zone.

  • Vibration monitors are in place to ensure that vibration levels are kept below the allowed threshold.
  • Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.
  • Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change
