Temporary Lane Closures Scheduled for Portion of Kempsville Road for Sanitary Sewer Maintenance

VIRGINIA BEACH – Motorists are advised that HRSD is scheduled to perform maintenance within portions of its sanitary sewer force main along Kempsville Road in the cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach on Monday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day as follows:

  • Maintenance work scheduled for Monday, January 22 will take place within the left westbound lane and the eastbound left turn lane of Kempsville Road at the intersection of Brightleaf Road in Chesapeake.
  • Maintenance work scheduled for Tuesday, January 23 work will take place within the left westbound lane and the eastbound left turn lane of Kempsville Road between Beaufain Boulevard and Lion’s Way.

Motorists will continue to have access to Kempsville Road at a reduced capacity while the maintenance work is performed. This work is weather dependent and subject to change or require additional time.

This work is required as part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Wet Weather Consent Decree for Sanitary Sewer Overflows.
