Update: Sanitary Sewer Maintenance on Kempsville Road Rescheduled Due to Weather
VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD postponed Tuesday’s scheduled maintenance within portions of its sanitary sewer force main along Kempsville Road in Virginia Beach due to weather. The maintenance work planned for Kempsville Road between Beaufain Boulevard and Lion’s Way will be performed on Wednesday, January 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Maintenance operations will take place within the left westbound lane and the eastbound left turn lane of Kempsville Road between Beaufain Boulevard and Lion’s Way. Motorists will continue to have access to Kempsville Road at a reduced capacity while the maintenance work is performed. This work is weather dependent and subject to change or require additional time.
This work is required as part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Wet Weather Consent Decree for Sanitary Sewer Overflows.
HRSD’s mission is to protect public health and the waters of Hampton Roads by treating wastewater effectively. A political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, HRSD was created by public referendum in 1940 and currently serves 18 cities and counties in southeast Virginia, an area with a population of 1.7 million.
