Scheduled Sanitary Sewer Maintenance Will Require Overnight Lane Closures in Cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth

VIRGINIA BEACH – Motorists are advised that HRSD is scheduled to perform overnight maintenance within portions of its sanitary sewer force main in the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk this week as follows:

Portsmouth – The two northbound lanes of Effingham Street will be closed at County Street from 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31 until 5:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1. Through-traffic on Effingham Street will be shifted to the left turn lane to proceed.

Norfolk – The two right westbound lanes of Virginia Beach Boulevard at Ingleside Road and the southbound right turn lane from Ingleside onto Virginia Beach Boulevard will be closed from 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1 until 5:00 a.m. Friday, February 2.

This work is weather dependent and subject to change or require additional time to complete and is required as part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Wet Weather Consent Decree for Sanitary Sewer Overflows.
