Traffic Advisory - August 14, 2025

 

SUFFOLK – Motorists are advised that HRSD will begin overnight work to install a light pole along I-664 South. This work will require closure of the southbound right lane and right shoulder of I-664 beginning before the Armstead Road Overpass and continuing to near Exit 8A (College Drive). Exit 8A will remain open. The closure will be set up on Thursday, August 14, at 8:00 p.m. and is expected to remain in place until Friday, August 15 at 5:00 a.m. For more information, please refer to the map below.

This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

This program offers financial incentives to property owners currently using septic tanks who elect to voluntarily connect to public sewer. It is funded by a Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) grant award to HRSD. The goal of the program is to reduce nonpoint source nitrogen pollution of the Chesapeake Bay. Qualified participants may receive reimbursement of up to $5,000 per property for eligible construction expenses and the waiver of HRSD Facility Charges. NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews will continue to install and test sewer pipe for the new Lucas Creek Pump Station. This work will require the closure of Old Lucas Creek Road between Debbie Lane and Lucas Creek Road and a closure of the right northbound lane of Lucas Creek Road. All closures will occur on weekdays only from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will continue until the end of September. For the detour route, refer to the map below.
