Traffic Advisory - October 2, 2025
NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews will continue to install and test sewer pipe for the new Lucas Creek Pump Station. This work will require the closure of Old Lucas Creek Road between Debbie Lane and Lucas Creek Road and a closure of the right northbound lane of Lucas Creek Road. All closures will occur on weekdays only from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will continue until the end of November. For the detour route, refer to the map below.

WILLIAMSBURG– Motorists are advised that HRSD crews are scheduled to restore the area near the right westbound lane of Humelsine Parkway (Route 199) near College Creek, beginning October 6, which will require intermittent closures of the right westbound shoulder. The shoulder closures will be intermittent Monday-Friday during the hours of 9 a.m.-3p.m. through the end of October.
Notice to Neighbors - September 2025
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking a project in your neighborhood to raise or replace the frames and covers of sewer manholes in the area. This effort will improve system reliability, enhance public safety, and reduce the potential for stormwater to enter the sanitary sewer. This appointment follows the recent passing of HRSD’s respected Commissioner, Frederick N. Elofson, who served HRSD, its service area, and the Commonwealth of Virginia with distinction for 19 years.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to replace sewer pipe and manholes along Waltham Street. Broken pipe segments were found during a CCTV inspection of the sewer pipe, and repairs must be made. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
