SUFFOLK, VA – HRSD has temporarily suspended aquifer replenishment activities at the SWIFT (Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow) Research Center to allow for warranty repairs needed on components of the advanced water treatment equipment used to process SWIFT Water (water treated to meet drinking water quality standards). Facility tours of the SWIFT Research Center will also be postponed through January while repairs are made.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work to replace a sanitary sewer pipeline along Warwick Boulevard from Thorncliff to Lucas Creek Road. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday - Friday, to minimize traffic disruptions as requested by the City of Newport News.
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning to rehabilitate portions of the sanitary sewer system located in your neighborhood as part of a larger, federally-mandated program to reduce the sewage overflows during rainstorms. The project will improve the system’s performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future.
HRSD, your regional wastewater utility, is undertaking a multi-phased project to rehabilitate over 100 manhole structures located throughout the Hampton Roads Service Area. These below ground structures are reaching the end of their service life and require new internal protective coatings to restore the structures and prevent further corrosion. This large program is being broken into multiple phases and grouped geographically.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking a project to inspect and perform maintenance of the internal sanitary sewer piping and valves from our pump station on Gum Road. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. This work can be weather and situation dependent and should not affect your water or sewer services.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, has completed the installation of a new sanitary sewer pipeline located along Lee Street between 15th and 16th Streets. This new pipeline must now be connected into the existing sewer system.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
CHESAPEAKE - HRSD has completed repairs to the sanitary sewer pipeline on Kempsville Road between Volvo Parkway and Hunningdon Lakes Boulevard and has returned the line to service, thus ending the pumping and hauling of flow to nearby pump stations. Roadway and site restoration is now underway.
The right and center southbound lanes remain closed in that area to allow for roadway restoration. These lanes may be reopened as early as Saturday, August 25.
