--Well Installation Update for Well #9--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. The construction at well site #9 (please see the map on the back for location information) will shift to 24-hour operations (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday) in order to complete this portion of work.

Well Completion Information:

• The drilling and well installation at Well #9 has been completed.  To ensure that it meets the project requirements the well needs to be tested.
• The testing requires continuous (24-hour) pumping of water from the well to verify it’s capacity to recharge the Potomac Aquifer.  
• This process is generally “quieter" than the well drilling operation, and the noises should be limited to diesel engines and machinery which may sound similar to a generator.  
• All water used by the testing is sent by pipes to HRSD’s James River Treatment Plant.  
• Below are pictures of the testing process.  

Construction Update:

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
