The HRSD Environmental Scholarship was endowed in 1999 to support post-graduate study in a public Virginia university by a resident of HRSD's service area. The scholarship, which is administered by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, is awarded annually.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Permanently reside within HRSD's service area of 17 cities and counties in southeast Virginia.
  • Be a full-time graduate student in a public Virginia university.
  • Be enrolled in one of the following disciplines: environmental health, environmental chemistry, biology, or civil or environmental engineering. 

HRSD employees and commissioners and their relatives are not eligible.
