James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements

Body

-- Sewer Pipe Tie-In --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements at the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT site. As part of these improvements HRSD is relocating a new pipe and connecting it to an existing pipe (also known as a tie-in). This tie-in will require continuous operations until the work is completed. This work should take place for 24-hours.

Construction Activity Update:

  • Beginning as early as March 7, the tie in work will begin in the vicinity of your home/business.
  • Construction noises include use of vacuum truck pumps to remove wastewater from the existing pipe, saw cutting of the existing pipe, use of a pump, construction equipment, and light tower generator.
  • The work requires the use of light towers for the evening/night phase of the operation. These light towers will get stationed and turned to cause the least impact to the neighbors but expect to see additional lighting on site.
  • This work should not affect your water or sewer services.
  • This section of work is anticipated to be completed in 1-3 days. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Please visit the project’s webpage www.hrsd.com/james-river-tp-swift-improvements for updates.

Thank you for your support of this effort to help achieve HRSD’s vision:

Our communities will have clean waterways and reliable water resources for generations to come.
