James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements
-- Riverview Farm Park Trails Construction Update Pile Driving Realignment Flax Mill Creek Trail --
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. The installation of over 1 mile of new trails adjacent to Riverview Farm Park and Menchville Marina and on HRSD’s and the City of Newport News’ property is underway. This work will typically take place during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm (Monday-Friday) in compliance with the project’s weekday work hours.
Construction Update:
- Beginning as early as April 22, timber pile driving for the Flax Mill Creek trail realignment should begin in the vicinity of your home/business. (please refer to the back of this notice for a map of the trail realignment)
- This project includes the construction of asphalt trail on grade and wooden boardwalk trail supported by timber piles.
- The work will take place on weekdays during daytime hours.
- The timber pile installation will be monitored for vibration limits to keep from damaging existing adjacent structures.
- This portion of work should not affect your water or sewer services.
- This section of the work is anticipated to last approximately 1 to 2 months. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change.
While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.
