Chesapeake Boulevard Sewer Replacement

Body

-- Nighttime Work to Occur --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to tie-in the new sanitary sewer pipeline along Chesapeake Boulevard into the existing sanitary sewer system. To place the sewer pipe online, wastewater flow in the pipe must be diverted temporarily. Vactor trucks will be used to pump wastewater from one location and haul it to another location. This work is expected to occur primarily between the hours of 7pm-8am on the evening of Wednesday June 5th. Night work is necessary for this tie-in as that is when sewage flows in the sewer system are at their lowest.

Construction Update:

  • Beginning the evening of June 5th, nighttime work will occur near the intersection of Chesapeake Boulevard and Robin Hood Road, which will include traffic control for lane closures, and at the intersection of Chesapeake Boulevard and Cromwell Drive, which will include traffic control for a detour of Cromwell Drive.
  • The contractor will ensure that access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout construction.
  • This work should not affect your water or sewer services. Every attempt will be made to provide advance notice of this interruption should it need to occur.
  • This portion of the work is expected to be completed in 24 hours. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
  • The abandonment of the existing sewer pipe, as well as curb and gutter replacement, is expected to begin in July.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.
