Virginia Beach Boulevard Sewer Pipeline Replacement

Body

-- Clearing to begin in January 2020 --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work in your area soon. The Virginia Beach Boulevard Sanitary Sewer Pipeline Improvement project will replace the existing 24-inch sewer pipeline with a larger 42-inch pipeline to reliably move the increased sewer flow along Virginia Beach Boulevard from North Lynnhaven Road to Great Neck Road. The work in your area should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday with one period of 24/7 "around the clock" work to tunnel a pipe under the waterway to the east of your neighborhood.

This clearing work will include taking down trees/shrubs, railroad tracks, and any fences, sheds, or other items that are located within the public right-of-way. You received a notice in July/August 2019 which detailed the items located in the public right-of-way that will need to be removed by January 1, 2020. Representatives will be marking items for removal during the week of December 16, 2019. Beginning in January, the contractor will remove anything that was identified and is still remaining in the public right-of-way. If your fence is removed, it will be replaced on your actual property line. After the public right-of-way behind your house is cleared, construction work will begin.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crew activity, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change. For updates, please visit the project's website page, www.hrsd.com/construction-status.

Thank you for your support of this effort to help achieve HRSD's vision:

Future generations will inherit clean waterways and be able to keep them clean.
