James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements
-- Riverview Farm Park Trailhead Work --
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. The installation of over 1 mile of new trails adjacent to Riverview Farm Park and Menchville Marina and on HRSD’s and the City of Newport News’ property is underway. This work will typically take place during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm (Monday-Friday) in compliance with the project’s weekday work hours.
Construction Update:
- Beginning as early as July 18, trailhead work will begin in Riverview Farm Park.
- This work requires demolition of a portion of the City’s parking area for construction of a trailhead. For public safety, a portion of the Riverview Farm Park parking lot will be closed to public access during this work. Please refer to the back of this notice for a map of the location.
- The work will take place Monday - Friday during daytime hours. Full parking lot access will be available during the weekend.
- This portion of work should not affect your water or sewer services.
- This section of the work is anticipated to last approximately 1 to 2 weeks. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change.
While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.
