Luxembourg and Ashland Circle Pump Station Replacements
--Excavation, Demolition, and Sheeting Installation to Begin--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Norfolk, is conducting a project in your neighborhood to replace the existing HRSD Luxembourg and Ashland Circle Pump Stations that are nearing the end of their useful life. This replacement project will also improve the sewer system’s performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Construction Update:
- Beginning as early as December 6, excavation and demolition of the existing Luxembourg Pump Station as well as sheeting installation will occur in the vicinity of your home/business on Luxembourg Street between Versailles Avenue and Degrasse Avenue.
- The sheeting installation will be a vibratory method, which creates less noise than the typical hammer-style of pile driving. Vibration monitors are in place to monitor the levels of vibration; alerts are provided to contractor if the vibrations reach a particular level, and work will be stopped if these vibrations exceed federally-established levels that may cause damage to residential structures.
- Be aware, traffic patterns will shift and will include partial lane closures and detours to through traffic during the sheeting installation. Access to homes/businesses will be available.
- This work should not affect your water or sewer services.
- This portion of the work is anticipated to be completed in 2 to 3 months. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change or be extended.
