James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements

Body

-- Well Drilling to Occur in Riverview Farm Park --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Construction Update:

  • Work for improvements to support well drilling is occurring in Riverview Farm Park during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • This work will include mobilization at future recharge wells 9 and 10 which will include site preparation, installation of access roadways, construction of hydrants, and well drilling. A map is included depicting locations of the future recharge wells where work is currently occurring.
  • Some noise may be associated with these construction activities. As a comparison, the noise is expected to be no louder than what city traffic would be at a distance of 100 feet away.
  • During this work, Riverview Farm Park trails will not be relocated or shutdown. When construction traffic crosses the trails, the contractor will utilize spotters or flaggers as needed to temporarily stop trail users for public safety.
  • Be aware, construction traffic may be entering and exiting the construction access entrances on Menchville Road. Signage will be in place noting where the construction entrances are located.
  • This portion of work should not affect your water or sewer services.
  • This portion of work is expected to be completed by early November.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change. Please visit the project’s web page www.hrsd.com/james-river-tp-swift-improvements for more information and project updates.

Thank you for your support of this effort to help achieve HRSD's vision:

Future generations will inherit clean waterways and be able to keep them clean.
