South Norfolk Pump Stations & Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project

Body

PROJECT UPDATES – OCTOBER 2022

Park Avenue Sewer Pipeline Work & Road Closure

No more 24-hour drilling is required to complete work on the Park Avenue sewer pipelines! We are now rebuilding and connecting manholes to the sewer system. Because contractors will be transporting heavy equipment on Park Avenue to the pump station worksite for months to come, the road restoration at this time will feature a base layer of temporary asphalt. Final road restoration will occur after the pump station construction is complete in Summer 2024.

This work will take place during daytime hours (7AM – Sunset). We estimate that the all manhole and initial road restoration will be completed prior to Thanksgiving. During this operation, you may hear noises such as engines, backup alarms, diesel generator and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Park Avenue Pump Station Construction

Excavation to build the new Park Avenuemap Pump Station foundation began on September 29th. We estimate that this excavation work will be completed by early November. A 100-ft boom crane will remain on-site during this time. This work will occur directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 7 PM. As a reminder, construction of this pump station is ongoing until Summer 2024. Look for an update in early November regarding future construction activities at this site!

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
