October Project Update – October 2023

 Park Avenue Pump Station Update

Our contractor has completed the installation of tie-backs to support the sheeting at the Park Avenue Pump Station construction site and has lowered rebar into the construction area which will be tied to create formwork. Within the formwork, our contractors will pour the concrete base slab to establish the foundation of the new pump station.

The pouring of the concrete is tentatively scheduled as early as November 2 from 6AM – 5 PM. During this pour day, pump trucks will be present on the new pump station construction site. Staging areas for the concrete trucks feeding the pump trucks will be present behind and in front of Rena B. Wright Elementary School with a wash-off area off Perry Street. Contractor staff or “flaggers” will be present to guide traffic, but no lanes will be closed during this time.

Park Avenue Sewer Pipeline Update

Excavation for the pipeline bore pit at the corner of Stewart and Park began earlier this month, with sheeting being placed to stabilize the site. After excavation completed, our contractor began to install new sewer pipeline. Construction work is expected to occur Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 5 PM.

Park Avenue is restricted with no through driving allowed between Hull Street and Jackson Avenue during this phase of the pipeline replacement project to ensure safety around the construction area. Work on Park Avenue between Bainbridge Boulevard and Hull Street has been extended, and the road is currently restricted until late November at the earliest. 

However, although barriers are in place, residents are able to access their homes and alleys via Stewart Street, Decatur Street, and Rodgers Street between Jefferson Street and Holly Avenue. Work is expected to be completed by late 2023.

While the contractors are working, you may hear noises such as drilling, engines, backup alarms, diesel generators and motors. Vibration monitors will be located onsite and near the construction area to ensure limited disruption to you in your residence. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted. Dust control measures such as paving, frequent road cleaning and/or application of water will be enacted to reduce dust from becoming airborne. After construction, roadways and rights-of-way will be restored to their pre-construction structure and materials.

Ferebee Pump Station Update

The replacement structure for Ferebee Pump Station is in its final design stages and is expected to begin construction during early 2024.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
