James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements

Body

-- Temporary Dog Park Closure --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements at the City’s Gymnastic Center as part of the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Construction Update:

  • Beginning as early as September 26th, demolition of structures and fencing and the relocation of utilities and amenities at the City’s dog park and Gymnastic Center will begin on HRSD and City property. This work is required to remove City structures from HRSD property.
  • To maintain safety during this period of construction, a temporary shutdown of the City’s dog park is required.
  • This portion of the work is anticipated to be completed in 2-3 weeks. Work is weather and situation dependent and may require additional time.
  • After completion of this work, public access to the dog park will be maintained south of the City’s Gymnastic Center, similar to the existing location.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change. Please visit the project’s web page www.hrsd.com/james-river-tp-swift-improvements for updates.

Thank you for your support of this effort to help achieve HRSD's vision:

Future generations will inherit clean waterways and be able to keep them clean.
