James River Treatment Plant SWIFT Improvements

-- Well Drilling Update for Well #1 --

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. The drilling at well site #1 will shift to 24-hour operations this week. Please see the map on the back for location information.

Construction Update:

  • Work at Well #1 on the south end of the James River Treatment Plant property will shift to 24-hour operations this week, with the first night shift planned for Tuesday, February 14th.
  • This 24-hour operation is projected to last approximately 3 days. The work may take longer based on productivity and weather.
  • There may be minor noise associated with the machines around Well #1. As a comparison, the noise is expected to be no louder than what city traffic would be at a distance of 100 feet away.
  • Well drilling at other locations on the James River Treatment Plant and in Riverview Farm Park will remain in operation during the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at this time.
  • This portion of work should not affect your water or sewer services.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change. Please visit the project’s web page www.hrsd.com/james-river-tp-swift-improvements for updates.

Thank you for your support of this effort to help achieve HRSD's vision:

Future generations will inherit clean waterways and be able to keep them clean.
