Access Temporarily Restricted on HRSD-Owned Lambert's Point Trail, Surrounding Area for Non-Intrusive Landfill Study
NORFOLK -- HRSD is currently conducting a non-intrusive landfill study as part of the first phase of the Virginia Initiative Plant Tertiary Treatment Facility project. This fieldwork, taking place within the publicly accessible portion of HRSD’s Lambert’s Point property will help the team identify and collect landfill information to help inform the design and construction of the future facilities, without digging or disturbing the landfill.
The work is scheduled to take place seven days a week from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. through May. For safety purposes, areas of the publicly accessible HRSD Lambert’s Point property will be restricted during active fieldwork.
When complete, the Virginia Initiative Plant Tertiary Treatment Facility will provide the necessary upgrades to allow HRSD to meet the 2032 James River total phosphorus reduction requirements and will be operational within 2031.
This work schedule is tentative and may change based upon weather, site conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Please visit the Project page for updates.
