Temporary Lane Closures Scheduled for Portion of Shore Drive Near Naval Base for Sanitary Sewer Maintenance

VIRGINIA BEACH – Motorists are advised that HRSD is scheduled to perform maintenance within portions of its sanitary sewer force main along Shore Drive during overnight hours beginning 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 21 and continuing through 5:00 a.m. (additional hours as needed will occur between 9:00 a.m. and noon) Saturday, June 2. During this time, traffic controls will be utilized during the overnight work hours and removed each morning. No work over the Memorial Day holiday weekend will occur.

Travel lanes will be reduced to one lane eastbound between Lough Lane and Kimball Circle and then alternate to work westbound and reducing traffic to one lane between Helicopter Road and Kimball Circle.

This work is weather dependent and subject to change or require additional time. Updates to this work or schedule can be found on the HRSD website.

This work is required as part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Wet Weather Consent Decree for Sanitary Sewer Overflows.
