South Norfolk Pump Stations & Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project

PROJECT UPDATES – January 2023

Park Avenue Sewer Pipeline Work
and Restoration

This month,Image crews are continuing to repair and restore Park Avenue’s curbs and gutters. As pictured to the right, the street’s asphalt is patched and temporarily resurfaced so that traffic can access Rena B. Wright Elementary and homes in the area. A final asphalt treatment will be applied to the street in Summer 2024 after work on the Park Avenue Pump Station is complete.

Work on Park Avenue will take place during daytime hours (7AM – Sunset). During this operation, you may hear noises such as engines, backup alarms, diesel generator and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Park Avenue Pump Station Construction

Due to construction delays, excavation at the new Park Avenue Pump Station site will continue through the end of March. This work will occur directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 7 PM. As a reminder, construction of this pump station is ongoing until Summer 2024.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
