Rodgers Street Sewer Pipeline Update

image 1

Pipeline excavation and installation on Rodgers Street is complete! Continuing work on Rodgers Street this month includes the road grading, installation of wire mesh/rebar forms, and pouring of concrete to restore the curb, gutter, and roadway surface on Rodgers Street between Richmond Street and Byrd Avenue. Richmond Street remains closed to through traffic.

During construction, Rodgers Street will be restricted with no through driving allowed between Park Avenue and Byrd Avenue to ensure safety around the construction area. However, although barriers will be in place, residents will be able to access their homes via the side street of Holly Avenue and various alleys.

Byrd Avenue Construction

Our contractors continued sewer pipeline replacement down Byrd Avenue this month by working to install residential sewer laterals and clean-outs for residences between Byrd Avenue and Chamberlain Avenue. The school bus access entrance on Byrd Avenue will soon be closed, but the Rodgers Avenue entrance will be open for entry. Access to the Lakeside Park parking lot for residents will be made easier coming via the Rodgers Avenue school bus entrance.

During the construction, Byrd Avenue will be closed to through traffic with no street parking. Residents will need to access their homes via side streets. If you live on Byrd Avenue between Bainbridge Boulevard and Rodgers Street, please be aware of the following:

  • Mail and package delivery service to residents will not be impacted. Contractors will work with delivery services to ensure that mail and packages reach your home.
  • Trash service will continue to be picked up in the locations where you typically place your trash.
  • Additional parking at Lakeside Park has been set up as needed for use by Byrd Avenue residents.

Construction will take place during daytime hours (7 AM – Sunset). During this operation, you may hear noises such as excavation, engines, backup alarms, diesel generators and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Ferebee Avenue Pump Station Update

Our contractors are scheduled to begin work on the construction of the Ferebee Avenue Pump Station as early as late April 2025. During material deliveries or concrete pours, southbound traffic on Bainbridge Boulevard may be reduced to one lane. Notice will be given to residents in advance of the planned lane closure via doorhanger notices. The work is expected to be completed by late 2027.

Park Avenue Pump Station Update

image 2This month, our contractors continued several tasks to further develop the structure of the station. Cables and conduits to control panels were connected in both the pump station and generator buildings. Process piping, sluice gates, and valves were installed and tested to prepare for the station’s eventual activation. Excavation also occurred in front of the pump station site to allow for the connection of the pump station to HRSD’s force main sewer pipe.

Continuing construction work will occur directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 6 AM. As a reminder, construction of this pump station is ongoing until summer 2025.

Bainbridge Boulevard Construction Update

A force main sewer pipe has been installed to feed directly into the future Ferebee Pump Station site. Additionally, our contractors continued work on the installation of a gravity sewer pipeline and a bypass pumping system near Swain Avenue. The pipeline work is tentatively planned to be completed in late spring 2025.

As a result of the work on Bainbridge Boulevard, the northbound side of Bainbridge Boulevard will be restricted to one lane between the west entrance to Southgate Plaza near Swain Avenue and Ferebee Avenue to the south. Residents on Bainbridge Boulevard and Swain Avenue will be able to access their homes via their normal routes.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
