--Project Update--

Byrd Avenue Sewer Pipeline

map

The sewer pipeline replacement on Byrd Avenue is complete. Final pavement restoration of Byrd Avenue completed earlier this week between Chamberlain Avenue and Bainbridge Boulevard following grading and the pouring of curbs and gutters along segments of Byrd Avenue. Final post-restoration cleanup remains, but roads are estimated to be open to through traffic within the next few weeks.

The school bus access entrance on Byrd Avenue remains closed, but the Rodgers Avenue entrance is open for entry.

During the final cleanup period, Byrd Avenue remains closed to through traffic with no street parking. Residents will need to access their homes via side streets. If you live on Byrd Avenue, between Bainbridge Boulevard and Rodgers Street, please be aware of the following:

  • Mail and package delivery service to residents will not be impacted. Our contractors will work with delivery services to ensure that mail and packages reach your home.
  • Trash service will continue to be picked up in the locations where you typically place your trash.
  • Additional parking at Lakeside Park has been set up as needed for use by Byrd Avenue residents.

Construction will take place during daytime hours (7 AM – Sunset). During this operation, you may hear noises such as excavation, engines, backup alarms, diesel generators and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Rodgers Street Sewer Pipeline Update

Final pavement restoration completed on Rodgers Street this month as contractors placed asphalt pavement and poured driveway aprons on Rodgers Street, between Holly Avenue and Byrd Avenue. During post-restoration cleanup, Byrd Avenue and Richmond Street remain closed to through traffic. Residents will be able to access their homes via the side street of Holly Avenue and various alleys. Roads are estimated to be open to through traffic within the next few weeks.

Ferebee Avenue Pump Station Update

Construction has begun at the Ferebee Station Pump Station site. This includes the driving of sheet piles, which are necessary to hold soil back after excavation of the site to lay the foundation. Vibrations and noise from this work may be higher than normal due to pile driving. This phase of construction is expected to be completed in 6-8 weeks. Vibration monitors are currently in place to ensure that vibration levels are kept below the allowed threshold. During material deliveries or concrete pours, southbound traffic on Bainbridge Boulevard may be reduced to one lane for the safety of our contractor crews and customers.

Final pump station construction is expected to be completed by late 2027.

Bainbridge Boulevard Sewer Pipeline Update

map

After completing the installation of a sewer bypass system, our work continues on Bainbridge Boulevard, starting with the excavation and installation of sewer pipe at the intersection of Bainbridge Boulevard and Swain Avenue.

Excavation and the extension of the pipe trench has taken place south of the intersection along the right shoulder of Bainbridge Boulevard’s northbound lane.

The pipeline work is currently planned to be substantially completed by late summer 2025.

Park Avenue Pump Station Construction Update

Our contractors continued work at the pump station this past month including the testing of pump systems; installing exhaust fans, thermostats, and other internal controls; and finalizing the siding and trim at the new pump station site. Construction work will continue directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7AM – 6 PM.

Construction is ongoing through summer 2025.

Perry Street Sewer Pipeline Update

Last month, work began on Perry Street to install a new sanitary sewer pipeline that will eventually be connected the Park Avenue Pump Station. Trench excavation and pipe installation are complete. Work will continue with the installation of well points.

Construction is tentatively expected to be completed by mid-September 2025.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
