--Utility Work to Begin--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to rehabilitate the sanitary sewer pump station on Thompson Avenue and rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer pipelines and manholes in the Town of West Point and the Town of Urbanna. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

  • Beginning as early as April 13, 2023, sewer pipe installation work will be in the vicinity of your home/business.
  • This work will include erosion and sediment controls, site setup, street saw cutting, excavation, and sewer pipe installation and rehabilitation.
  • This work will take place during daytime hours and within the Virginia Street public right of way.
  • Traffic control along Virginia Street will be required including flagging operations and traffic control devices and short-term lane closures. There will be no impact to property access. Please see the map below for additional information.Virginia Street Detour
  • If work on your sewer lateral occurs, your sewer service may be impacted; the contractor will notify you in advance to allow for appropriate planning.
  • This portion of the work along Virginia Street should be completed in 5-6 months. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent and dates are subject to change.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise, traffic, crews, and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site.

Please visit the project's webpage for more information and updates.
