South Norfolk Pump Stations & Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project

Body

PROJECT UPDATES – NOVEMBER 2022

Park Avenue Sewer Pipeline Work & Restoration

The construction pits are being filled soImage that we can begin repaving Park Avenue. Reconstruction of curbs and gutters on Park Avenue will take place during early December. Because contractors will be transporting heavy equipment on Park Avenue to the pump station worksite until Summer 2024, the road reconstruction will only include a base layer of temporary asphalt.

This work will take place during daytime hours (7AM – Sunset). We estimate that the all manhole and initial road restoration will be completed prior to Thanksgiving. Final road rebuilding will occur after the pump station construction is complete in Summer 2024. During this operation, you may hear noises such as engines, backup alarms, diesel generator and motors. Your water and sewer service will not be disrupted.

Park Avenue Pump Station Construction

Excavation at the new Park Avenue Pump Station site is ongoing. We estimate that this excavation work will be completed by the end of December. The 100-ft boom crane will remain on-site during this time. This work will occur directly on the pump station property itself, Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 AM – 7 PM. As a reminder, construction of this pump station is ongoing until Summer 2024. Look for an update in early December regarding future construction activities at this site!

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
