Porter Street Detour

Our contractors have begun work on Perry Street to replace the existing sewer pipeline, which includes work in the intersection of Park Avenue and Porter Street, depicted in the red area on the map on the right. Due to this work, we previously directed Porter Street residents (see Project Notice No. 57) to access their homes via an access route on the street to the west of and behind Rena B. Wright Elementary School. 

However, the City of Chesapeake is currently repaving that area (seen in turquoise on the map) and now it is not accessible as an entry route to homes on Porter Street.

Access to Porter Street residences will now be maintained via the new detour route, shown in dark blue on the map. This route will guide you around north of the HRSD work, moving through a street parking area and will be in effect for an estimated period of one month. We thank you for your patience as we work with the City to accomplish their paving work at the same time as our pipeline work.
