Thorncliff Drive to Lucas Creek Road
In cooperation with the City of Newport News, HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning to replace a portion of sanitary sewer pipeline, located near your neighborhood or business, as part of a larger program to reduce the sewage overflows during rainstorms. The project will also improve the system’s performance and allow for continued, reliable sewer service in the future. In an effort to minimize traffic disruptions and as required by the City of Newport News, the majority of this work will occur between the hours of 9 P.M. to 6 A.M., Monday – Friday when the road is less traveled. The answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are provided on the back of this notice.
The work is planned to occur predominately within the center median along a portion of Warwick Boulevard near the intersection of Thorncliff Drive and continuing south towards the intersection of Lucas Creek Road. This work will include pipeline installation as well as providing connections to four private and one public pump stations (see map below). Traffic patterns will shift throughout this project and at times may be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Mobilization to the site: Late February 2018 Construction is anticipated: March – October 2018.
Immediately following construction
