HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Chesapeake, is planning a project in your area to replace the existing HRSD and City sanitary sewer pipelines that are nearing the end of their useful life. This replacement project will also improve the system’s performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future. Project Overview
The project is located along Canal Drive from the Shell Road intersection to the South Military Highway intersection and at certain locations along Butler Street and Baugher Avenue. This project includes pipelines installed by both open trenching (digging) and trenchless (no open cutting) methods. Theses pipes will be replaced within easements obtained by HRSD and in the city right-of-way. The contractor will maintain a clean job site and minimize traffic disruption.

Construction: Phase 1: work within the public right-of-way along Butler Street
Spring 2020
Phase 2: work within the public right-of-way along Baugher Aveue
Spring 2020
Phase 3: work within easements and the public right-of-way along Canal Drive
Spring 2020-Winter2020
Restoration: Immediately following construction
