Upper Wall Pour Project Update – February 2024

Park Avenue Pump Station Concrete Pour Update

South Norfolk Pump Stations concrete pour map

Following the initial two pourings of the pump station’s lower walls in January, our contractors will conduct a new pouring within aluminum molds to carry out the forming of the new pump station’s upper walls.

The pouring of the concrete to form the pump station upper walls is tentatively scheduled as early as February 8th from 6AM – 5 PM. On the pour day, up to two pump trucks will be present on the new pump station construction site. A staging area for the concrete trucks feeding the pump truck will be present behind and in front of Rena B. Wright Elementary School with a wash-off area off Perry Street. Contractor staff or “flaggers” will be present to guide traffic on Park Avenue and Perry Street, but no lanes will be closed during this time.

While our project team works diligently to minimize impacts, you may notice increased noise and traffic, along with the people and heavy equipment (with back-up safety alarms) associated with construction. Please take care when traveling around the construction area and for your safety, do not enter the site. Due to the nature of construction, work is weather and situation dependent, and dates are subject to change.
