Project Overview

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking a project in your neighborhood to construct a new pressure reducing pumping station (PRS) and offline storage facility. This project will improve sewer system performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future. The answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are provided on the back of this notice.

PORTSMOUTH – Motorists and residents are advised that HRSD is performing emergency sewer line repairs on Clifford Street east of the intersection with Elmhurst Lane. Clifford Street is temporarily closed between Elmhurst Lane and City Park Avenue, and Elmhurst Lane is temporarily closed between Green Meadow Drive north loop and Green Meadow Drive south loop for pump and haul operations in support of the repair. Detours are in place as indicated on the map below.

--Occurring in King William County--

Smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system will take place within the vicinity of your property in King William County beginning in late March and potentially occurring through April, depending on weather.

--Occurring in Town of West Point--

Smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system will take place within the vicinity of your property in the Town of West Point beginning in late March and potentially occurring through April, depending on weather.

NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD will begin work to abandon old sewer piping that is no longer in service along Jefferson Avenue. This work will require a closure of the outer lane on northbound Jefferson Avenue beginning just before Oyster Point Road and extending to the I-64E entrance ramp as indicated on the map below. The lane closure will begin as early as March 16 and will remain in place through April. Business entrances within the lane closure will remain accessible.

--Sewer Pipe Installation to Continue--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Norfolk, will continue installation of a new sanitary sewer pipeline along Versailles Avenue and Norway Place as part of the ongoing Luxembourg and Ashland Circle Pump Station Replacement Project. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday.

--Utility Work to Resume--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work along Jefferson Avenue to abandon the old sewer pipe that has now been replaced by a new sewer pipe. This work is scheduled to take place Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

--Temporary Road Closure at Jolliff Road near Goose Creek Flyway--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is working to repair a line break that occurred on Thursday evening, February 27, on Jolliff Road near the intersection of Goose Creek Flyway. In order to investigate the leak and repair the pipe, crews have put in place a road closure and detour for motorists. A map of the detour is provided on the back of this notice.
