Traffic Advisory - March 2026

NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD will begin work to abandon old sewer piping that is no longer in service along Jefferson Avenue. This work will require a closure of the outer lane on northbound Jefferson Avenue beginning just before Oyster Point Road and extending to the I-64E entrance ramp as indicated on the map below. The lane closure will begin as early as March 16 and will remain in place through April. Business entrances within the lane closure will remain accessible.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Norfolk, will continue installation of a new sanitary sewer pipeline along Versailles Avenue and Norway Place as part of the ongoing Luxembourg and Ashland Circle Pump Station Replacement Project. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is working to repair a line break that occurred on Thursday evening, February 27, on Jolliff Road near the intersection of Goose Creek Flyway. In order to investigate the leak and repair the pipe, crews have put in place a road closure and detour for motorists. A map of the detour is provided on the back of this notice.

Traffic Advisory - February 27, 2026

CHESAPEAKE – Motorists and residents are advised that HRSD is performing emergency sewer line repairs on Jolliff Road between Goose Creek Drive and Jolliff Woods Drive. A temporary detour is in place to safely complete this work.

Motorists traveling along Jolliff Road will follow a signed detour around the work using Goshawk Drive, Condor Drive, Curlew Court, and Barn Swallow Drive to re-access Jolliff Road as indicated in the map below with red arrows.
