--Construction to impact westbound Virginia Beach Boulevard travel in April--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Virginia Beach, is planning a project in your neighborhood to automate an existing underground valve on an existing HRSD sewer pipe and install an underground vault around the valve located within the median of Independence Boulevard. This project will improve the sewer system’s performance and help provide continued, reliable sewer service in the future. The answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are provided here.
VIRGINIA BEACH – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews are currently installing a new sewer pipeline in the outermost westbound lane of Virginia Beach Boulevard between Parker Lane and Great Neck Road. During the progress of this work, it will be necessary to block access to the portion of Byrd Lane that is north of Virginia Beach Boulevard beginning Friday, April 9th and lasting for up to one week.
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment is undertaking a project to transfer the flow from an aging sanitary sewer pipeline in the Diamond Springs Road area of Virginia Beach to a nearby HRSD sewer pipeline. Once the transfer of flow is complete, the aging sanitary sewer pipeline will be filled with cementitious material and inline valves and related components will be constructed to provide additional isolation of the nearby existing pipeline system in case of any emergencies.

The Virginia Beach Boulevard Sanitary Sewer Pipeline Replacement project will replace the existing 24-inch sewer pipeline with a larger 42-inch pipeline to reliably move increased sewer flow along Virginia Beach Boulevard from North Lynnhaven Road to Great Neck Road. The work in your area will be primarily between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday night to Friday morning.
