September Project Update – September 2023
--Riverview Farm Park Trails Construction Update--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking improvements for the James River Treatment Plant SWIFT project. The installation of over 1 mile of new asphalt and boardwalk trails adjacent to Riverview Farm Park and Menchville Marina and on HRSD’s property is underway (refer to the map on the back for more information). This work will typically only take place during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm (Monday-Friday) in compliance with the project’s weekday work hours.
--Utility Work to Continue--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will continue work to install a sanitary sewer pipeline along Old Buckroe Road north of Salt Pond Road and along Fox Hill Road at the intersection of Old Buckroe Road. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.
--Early Morning Concrete Pour--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to pour concrete for the new Pump Station building. Due to the extended amount of time, it will take to pour a large quantity of concrete, we are planning to start earlier in the morning outside of normal work hours. This early morning work should take place primarily between the hours of 4 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to install a sanitary sewer pipeline along Neal Street between Great Bridge Boulevard and Rive Creek Road. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning a project in your neighborhood to replace the existing HRSD sanitary sewer pipelines that are nearing the end of their useful life. This replacement project will also improve the system’s performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future. Dear Neighbor:
Starting as early as September 22, 2023 and continuing through that day, our contractor, GET Solutions, Inc., has been authorized to perform work on behalf of HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, and the City of Norfolk as part of the Larchmont Area Sanitary Sewer Improvements Program. This program will replace, upgrade, and relocate sanitary sewer pump stations and their connecting pipelines in the Larchmont-Edgewater community.
VIRGINIA BEACH – HRSD crews will be performing utility inspection and maintenance work on Independence Boulevard at the intersection of Ewell Road beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Saturday September 16, and lasting until 8:00 p.m. Sunday September 17. This work will require closure of a left turn in each direction of Independence Boulevard. Motorists will also be restricted from turning left onto Independence Boulevard from Ewell Road as indicated on the map below.
