--Removal of Temporary Bypass System--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work to complete the sewer pipeline project located along Huxley Place. The new pipeline has been installed, and the temporary bypass sewer system is no longer needed. Work to remove the temporary bypass system will occur. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning sanitary sewer system improvements to your community. The entire project includes pipelines, new pump stations, and a storage tank. The pipelines and pump stations will bring sewage flows generated in the Town of Surry and vicinity to the existing HRSD pipe located in Smithfield. The existing Town Wastewater Treatment Plant will be replaced with a new pump station. A storage tank will be placed at the existing pump station at the Surry West Industrial Park, and the existing pump station will be upgraded.
Construction Notice Update #1-revised for the City of Virginia Beach - February 2021
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment is undertaking a project to transfer the flow from an aging sanitary sewer pipeline in the Diamond Springs Road area of Virginia Beach to a nearby HRSD sewer pipeline. Once the transfer of flow is complete, the aging sanitary sewer pipeline will be filled with cementitious material and inline valves and related components will be constructed to provide additional isolation of the nearby existing pipeline system in case of any emergencies.

Traffic Advisory - February 8, 2021
(VIRGINIA BEACH) – HRSD crews have completed emergency repairs to a primary force main at Independence Boulevard and Hinsdale Street and are now finalizing roadway restoration and repaving the affected lanes of traffic. All southbound lanes of Independence Boulevard at Hinsdale Street and the left northbound lane of Independence Boulevard at James Street will reopen to traffic by 8:00 p.m.
The southbound detour and northbound lane closure went into effect on Friday, February 5, to maintain motorist and worker safety while repairs were made.
Traffic Advisory - February 5, 2021
(VIRGINIA BEACH) – HRSD crews have closed all southbound lanes of Independence Boulevard at Hinsdale Street to assess damage and begin making repairs to a primary force main that has failed in the area. All southbound traffic on Independence Boulevard approaching Hinsdale Street is being detoured at Jericho Road to Witchduck Road to safely perform this work. The left northbound lane of Independence Boulevard is also closed at James Street; the center and right northbound lanes of Independence Boulevard remain open to traffic in the area.
