... or has been turned off you may use one of our online or IVR payment options. Payments must be made in full by 4:00 p.m.to have water service turned on the same day. Payments received after 4:00 p.m. will be scheduled for water service turn-on no later than 5:00 p.m. the next business day. A responsible adult must be present at the property for turn-on.

Our Customer Care Center serves as the primary point of contact for customers who wish to pay their bills in person or by phone, have questions about their HRSD/HRUBS bills or HRSD charges and rates. We can also help you sign up for Online Bill Pay, convert to flat-rate billing or arrange payment extensions. HRSD Customer Care is here to help!

  If a serious medical condition persists, have the Serious Medical Condition Certification (SMCC) Form* signed by your licensed physician. It must be submitted every 12 months or after the stated expected duration of the condition as indicated on the form by your physician (if less than 12 months); please email to HRSDMedicals@hrsd.com or fax to 757.460.2058. *Customers who have completed this form for another local utility are not required to complete the form again. HRSD will accept a valid, unexpired copy of your completed SMCC.

Amazing Aquifers!

What's an aquifer? What happens when we remove water from an aquifer? What does our aquifer look like? Students will answer these questions and more while building their own aquifer models. This module can be adjusted to meet the needs of any grade level classroom for a creative educational experience for all ages!

Bay In A Bottle

After understanding the vital process of wastewater treatment in Hampton Roads, students will create their own miniature Chesapeake Bay. This “Bay in a Bottle” activity combines creativity and critical learning to help students understand how HRSD cleans wastewater before releasing it back into rivers contributing to the Chesapeake Bay.
Grades Targeted: 3rd – 5th

Edible Aquifer

Students will use food to construct an edible aquifer model to learn about how water is stored underground and can be removed and used.  Students will identify the main components of the Potomac Aquifers and why aquifers are important and need to be protected.

Just Throw it Away

Have you ever wondered what's in the water that arrives at our wastewater treatment plants? Is there anything in it that shouldn't be? Students use their reading, measuring and thinking skills on a journey through the morning in a typical household to make their own "wastewater." Don't worry, there's no need to hold your nose!

Washing Water
