News Release - September 18, 2020
Several HRSD pump stations and one treatment plant experienced sanitary sewer overflows as a result of the significant rainfall coupled with the elevated water levels in area waterways throughout the HRSD service region brought on by the remnants of Hurricane Sally moving through southeastern Virginia.
HRSD crews have been working around the clock to locate line breaks, establish standby and bypass pumps, make repairs and reestablish full operation to overwhelmed systems throughout Hampton Roads.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work to replace a sanitary sewer pipeline located along Huxley Place. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one period of planned 24/7 “around the clock” work to install a utility connection.

Team Pain set to begin construction September 14
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – After hosting two design workshops and gathering feedback through online surveys and emails, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, in partnership with HRSD, is unveiling the final design of the new Woodstock Skate Park. The 30,000 square-foot park was designed by the creative minds at Team Pain who will begin construction on September 14 with a tentative opening in summer 2021.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work in your area. The Virginia Beach Boulevard Sanitary Sewer Pipeline Improvement project will replace the existing 24-inch sewer pipeline with a larger 42-inch pipeline to reliably move increased sewer flow along Virginia Beach Boulevard from North Lynnhaven Road to Great Neck Road. The work in your area should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
