This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This work can be weather and situation dependent and should not affect your waterd or sewer services.
PROJECT UPDATES – AUGUST 2022
As part of a City of Chesapeake water pipeline project, Bridgeman Civil needs to complete nighttime work to re-asphalt the intersection of Bainbridge Boulevard and Park Avenue on Thursday, August 11. This brief period of nighttime work is necessary so that the contractor can continue its work on the HRSD sanitary sewer replacement project.

This work is necessary to prepare for the relocation of sanitary sewer pipelines on Park Avenue. The contractor for HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning a brief period of 24-hour work to pump out sanitary sewer pipelines. This work is necessary to prepare for the relocation of sanitary sewer pipelines on Park Avenue. The work will occur between the following times:

As early as Monday, June 27, the contractor for HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin construction to replace aging sewer pipes on Park Avenue in front of Rena B. Wright Elementary School. This work will not affect your water or sewer services and is expected to be completed by September 5, 2022 (Labor Day).
As early as Monday June 27, 2022, HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to replace aging sanitary sewer pump stations and existing HRSD sanitary sewer pipelines and public sewer service connections that are nearing the end of their useful life. Construction work will occur Monday – Saturday between the hours of 7 AM – 7 PM. This schedule will allow for contractors to complete work on Park Avenue between Rena B. Wright Elementary School and Bainbridge Boulevard during the school’s summer recess.
CHESAPEAKE – HRSD crews worked through the night to repair a 36-inch force main failure that occurred early Saturday morning near 3025 Gum Court in Chesapeake, finalizing repairs and stopping the leak early Sunday morning. Initial assessments indicate external corrosion as the cause of damage and resulting leak. The preliminary estimated volume of wastewater spilled is approximately 500,000 gallons.
CHESAPEAKE – HRSD crews are responding to a force main failure near 3025 Gum Court in Chesapeake, just west of Interstate 664. The 36-inch line failure was reported early Saturday morning and is affecting a tributary of Drum Point Creek. This force main conveys wastewater to HRSD's Nansemond Treatment Plant in Suffolk.
