West Ave Interceptor Force Main Replacement
HRSD Capital Improvement Program Project (BH014000)


HRSD is undertaking a project to replace the sanitary sewer pipe along West Avenue in Newport News. The project includes approximately 2,400 linear feet of new sewer piping from Pump Station 201, located on 25th Street, to a connection at the intersection of West Avenue and 33rd Street. Once the new pipe has been installed, the old sewer pipe will be taken out of service.  

Project Cost: $2,100,000

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work to implement the Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow Program (SWIFT) at the James River Treatment Plant. Test piling will occur intermittently on HRSD’s James River Treatment Plant property.  This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. This work will commence during the day on December 12th and run intermittently until Thursday, December 30th.

Newport News – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews will be performing sanitary sewer maintenance work on Lucas Creek Road where it intersects with Colony Road. During the maintenance work, motorists utilizing Lucas Creek Road can follow a signed detour as indicated in green on the map below. Motorists utilizing Colony Road can follow a signed detour as indicated in blue on the map below. The detour is scheduled to begin the week of October 4th and is expected to remain in place for several days.
