HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning a maintenance project in your neighborhood to replace a corrosion protection system on the existing HRSD sanitary sewer pipeline to prevent corrosion-related failures. This replacement project will also ensure continued reliable sewer service in the future. The answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) can be found here.
Project Overview
NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews will be testing utilities on the corner of Lucas Creek Road and Old Lucas Creek Road. This work will require closure of a portion of Old Lucas Creek Road and the right northbound lane of Lucas Creek Road on weekdays only from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning Thursday, March 20 until Tuesday, March 25. Residents and emergency responders will have access to Old Lucas Creek Road with flaggers onsite to direct traffic.
--Temporary Water Tap Notice--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, has begun a project in your neighborhood to replace the existing HRSD Magnolia Pump Station that is nearing the end of its useful life. This replacement project will improve the system’s performance and ensure continued, reliable sewer service in the future. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
--Utility Work to Continue--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will continue the sanitary sewer rehabilitation work behind Community Presbyterian Church at 400 Fox Hill Road and along the access road to the HRSD pump station. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
--Demolition Work to Occur--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin demolition work at 5724 Chesapeake Boulevard. The demolition work and clearing are needed to prepare for the construction of a new pump station on this site; construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026. The new pump station will replace the current pump station located at 5734 Chesapeake Boulevard.
--Tree Removal to Occur--
HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to rehabilitate and replace an existing pump station located on the southern end of Ingleside Road. This work will include the removal of two trees. The tree removal should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
