Dust control measures such as paving, frequent road cleaning and/or application of water will be enacted to reduce dust from becoming airborne in our construction areas. After construction, roadways and rights-of-way will be restored to their pre-construction structure and materials.
Bainbridge Boulevard Pipeline Work Update:
Sewer pipe installation is underway on Bainbridge Boulevard between Wright Avenue and Chesapeake Drive, moving south toward Swain Avenue. Work has included installation of metal surface castings for new manholes and installation of new sewer pipe.
During pipeline construction, Bainbridge Boulevard will be closed in the northbound lane around the construction areas between Wright Avenue and Chesapeake Drive. Residents on Hughes Avenue, Post Avenue, and Chesapeake Drive can access their homes and businesses via local traffic routes with entry points from Bainbridge Boulevard onto Wright Avenue or Chesapeake Drive (see construction notice update #72 under Project Advisories for a map of the routes).
Crews also started to prepare Bainbridge Boulevard for asphalt paving at the intersection of Bainbridge Boulevard and Byrd Avenue. Recent restoration work included the pouring of new concrete curbs and gutters between Byrd Avenue and Wright Avenue.
The overall project pipeline construction is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
Ferebee Avenue Pump Station Update:
Contractors continued construction at the new Ferebee Pump Station site with the pouring of access platforms and pump supports in the station’s wells. They also continued backfilling operations and the installation of scaffolding of stairwells. Upcoming work will include the installation of external piping and manholes.
During material deliveries, soil/debris removal, or concrete pours at the pump station site, southbound traffic on Bainbridge Boulevard may be reduced to one lane near the site for the safety of our contractor crews and customers.
Final pump station construction is expected to be completed by late 2027.
Park Avenue Pump Station Construction Update:
Sewer pipeline work is expected to begin in mid June on Park Avenue in front of the Park Avenue Pump Station. Excavation of the roadway and installation of new sewer pipe will start near the intersection of Porter Street and move westward down Park Avenue in front of the new Park Avenue Pump Station site. This new pipe will allow us to connect the new pump station to the rest of the sewer pipe system.
During this time, traffic will be closed in both lanes in the work area depicted in the map (see construction notice update #71 under Project Advisories for the work area map). As school will not be in session during this time, this work will not impact bus routes. Construction is expected to occur for 4 - 6 weeks.
Perry Street Pipeline Update:
Further sewer pipeline installation southward on Perry Street is expected to take place during summer 2026.
