CHESAPEAKE – Motorists are advised that HRSD is currently performing emergency repairs requiring the closure of Kempsville Road at Stillwater Drive. Motorists traveling northeast on Kempsville Road from Battlefield Boulevard will make a U-turn at Stillwater Drive and motorists traveling southwest along Kempsville are being diverted to Green Tree Road. Motorists approaching Kempsville Road from Clearfield Avenue can only turn right onto Kempsville Road while this work continues.

VIRGINIA BEACH – Motorists are advised that HRSD continues to work within the right westbound lane of Virginia Beach Boulevard starting near Lynnhaven Road and continuing for approximately 500 feet. This lane closure is expected to remain in place through the week. Motorists should exercise caution while driving through the area and may experience delays.

In cooperation with the City of Newport News, HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning to rehabilitate the existing gravity sewer located in this area as part of a larger, federally-mandated program to reduce the sewage overflows during rainstorms. This project is necessary to increase the reliability and capacity of the sewage collection system by rehabilitating aging infrastructure with cured-in-place pipe.

In cooperation with the Town of Mathews, HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is planning to replace sanitary vacuum sewers located in this area as part of a larger, federally-mandated program to reduce the sewage overflows during rainstorms. This project is necessary to increase the reliability and capacity of the vacuum sewage collection system by replacing the undersized, aging infrastructure with new, higher capacity infrastructure. These upgrades will alleviate current and future vacuum pressure issues.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, continues work to update the pumping station and reconfigure the external buried piping at its existing Providence Road Pressure Reducing Station located at 5729 Old Providence Road. This night work should take place primarily between the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.

NORFOLK – HRSD has completed emergency repairs on East Little Creek Road between West Glen Road and I-64. The center and left lanes are open to traffic; however, the right lane remains closed. Motorists accessing East Little Creek Road via Exit 276C from I-64 West are no longer restricted from turning left into the westbound lanes of East Little Creek Road.
