HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is undertaking a project to inspect and perform maintenance of the internal sanitary sewer piping and valves along Bainbridge Bridge Boulevard. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This work can be weather and situation dependent and should not affect your water or sewer services.

Lucas Creek Pump Station Replacement
HRSD Capital Improvement Program Project (JR013500)


HRSD, your regional wastewater utility, is undertaking a project to replace its existing Lucas Creek Pump Station with a new pump station on an adjacent site. This effort will maintain the existing sanitary sewer service in the Denbigh Shores neighborhood while providing a modern, updated facility with improvements to noise, odor, and aesthetics. The new pump station will be styled to resemble a residential home, and it will contain all required equipment under a single structure. The multiple brick buildings that comprise the existing station will be demolished at the end of the project once the new pump station is in service.

Project Cost: $21.3 million

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, will begin work to install a sanitary sewer pipeline along 16th Street between Roanoke Avenue and Ridley Circle starting approximately on July 19.  Restoration efforts for the emergency pipeline work along 16th Street between Jeb’s Place and Anderson Park will continue during the month of July. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Traffic Advisory - July 7, 2021

Virginia Beach – Motorists are advised that HRSD is performing sanitary sewer work which requires the temporary closure of the right eastbound lane on Wesleyan Drive just west of Diamond Springs Road. The 24-hour lane closure is ongoing and scheduled to remain in place until August.
