Construction Notice Update #1 for the City of Suffolk - August 2025

--Site Clearing to Begin--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is working to install a new sanitary sewer pump station and rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer and manholes in the Phoebus area. This work is being done to resolve capacity, operational, and maintenance issues that currently affect the existing pump station and pipes that are near the end of their useful life. The work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday and could include weekend work.

Traffic Advisory - August 2025

NEWPORT NEWS – Motorists are advised that HRSD crews will be installing a valve along Patrick Henry Mall’s Access Loop Road near the northwest Macy’s parking lot as part of the Kiln Creek/Patrick Henry Mall Area Sewer Pipe Replacement. During this work, motorists can follow a signed detour around the portion of Access Loop Road as indicated on the map below.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, in coordination with the City of Norfolk, will begin installation of a new sanitary sewer pipeline along Versailles Avenue and Norway Place as part of the ongoing Luxembourg and Ashland Circle Pump Station Replacement Project. This work should take place primarily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday.

Traffic Advisory - August 15, 2025

 

SUFFOLK – Motorists are advised that HRSD will begin work to install a sanitary sewer pipeline across Armstead Road. This work will require a full closure of Armstead Road between the traffic circle entrance to Armstead Road and Ironside Drive. The construction crews are scheduled to work 24 hours a day beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22 – 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 25. Motorists will need to follow the marked detour using Point Place and Ironside Drive as indicated on the map below.

Traffic Advisory - August 14, 2025

 

SUFFOLK – Motorists are advised that HRSD will begin overnight work to install a light pole along I-664 South. This work will require closure of the southbound right lane and right shoulder of I-664 beginning before the Armstead Road Overpass and continuing to near Exit 8A (College Drive). Exit 8A will remain open. The closure will be set up on Thursday, August 14, at 8:00 p.m. and is expected to remain in place until Friday, August 15 at 5:00 a.m. For more information, please refer to the map below.
